Austin International School (AIS) announces the AIS Global Merit Scholarship for incoming 6th grade students entering the 2025-2026 academic year. This distinguished scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to the community. As we launch our inaugural International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), we seek exceptional external candidates ready to embrace a comprehensive international education. AIS welcomes students from all language backgrounds – no prior knowledge of French or Spanish is required. Selected scholars will join our distinguished trilingual program, where we are dedicated to empowering students through innovative curriculum and experienced international faculty. To be considered for the Merit Scholarship, prospective students must first complete and submit their AIS Admissions Application, after which they will gain access to the scholarship application.

Scholarship Details:
  • 25% tuition reduction for three consecutive years (6th-8th grade) as long as the student remains in good overall standing and stays enrolled in AIS
  • Three scholarships available
  • Open to prospective students entering 6th grade
Eligibility:
  • Prospective rising 6th graders for the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and leadership potential
  • A desire to be part of a globally focused, multilingual learning environment (French is not required)
  • Applicants must be located in the Austin area or be planning to relocate to the area in time for the 2025-2026 school year
  • English proficiency is required; knowledge of any other languages is not necessary
Application Requirements:

To be considered for the Merit Scholarship, prospective students must first complete and submit their AIS Admissions application, after which they will gain access to the scholarship application. The Merit Scholarship application and all additional paperwork are due by February 1st:

  • Standardized Test Scores
    • Recent STARR or MAP test scores (within the last academic year)
  • Recommendation Letter:
    • One letter from a school counselor or principal discussing the student’s character, leadership skills, and contributions to their school community
  • Student Essay:
    • A 250-300 word essay explaining your reason for wanting to attend AIS. 

Application Deadline: February 1, 2025
Finalist Interviews: Mid-February, 2025
Recipients Announced: March 2025

Selection Process: 

Application Review: All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of AIS faculty and administrators. 

Interviews: Selected finalists will be invited to participate in interviews in February. The interview will assess the student’s alignment with AIS values, academic ambitions, and interpersonal skills.
